we’re so famous by jamie clarke
if i could recommend one book for shampoo fans this would be it.
in fact, i would be highly surprised if jamie clarke doesn’t have a copy of ‘bouffant headbutt’ lurking somewhere in his record collection.
i first read this when it was released in 2001 and have re-read it a couple of times since then. unfortunately it never really got the credit it deserved mainly because, much like shampoo in this country, it never really fit with any obvious audience. too pop for the over 20’s and too nostalgic for the teens. like shampoo it is a lot of fun but with a pretty dark edge.

Imagine Britney Spears narrating The Day of the Locust as a gentle fable and you’ll get the idea.
